Shaminka Elwin
Miss Merced County's Teen 2026

Shaminka Elwin is currently a senior in high school, where she has dedicated herself to both academic excellence and meaningful community involvement. Through her experiences, she has discovered a passion for agriculture and the powerful role it plays in everyday life, especially within her community.

Although she did not come from a traditional agricultural background, growing up surrounded by agriculture allowed her to recognize its importance and impact. This perspective has inspired her to become a strong advocate for agricultural education and awareness, with a focus on shaping the next generation.

Her Community Service Initiative, Planting Knowledge, Growing Agvocates, is centered on educating and inspiring youth about agriculture. Through agriculture days and hands-on activities, she works directly with children to spark curiosity, build understanding, and create excitement about where food comes from and why agriculture matters. Her goal is to cultivate informed, passionate young individuals who will grow into future advocates for the industry.

Deeply involved in her community, she is an active member of the El Capitan FFA and proudly serves as a youth voice on the Merced Youth Council. Through these leadership roles, she continues to amplify youth perspectives while advocating for the importance of agriculture in her region.
